Guaranteed

So I watched Into the Wild yesterday.  I saw it previously in theatres as well.  However, the second time around, it affected me so much more emotionally than the first time.  Perhaps because I was watching it alone this time.  Everything from Eddie Vedder's soundtrack, the art direction, and acting really moved me.  I'm not embarrassed to say I teared up on several occasions.  I hear the film is actually quite different from the book and that is why a lot of people have a problem with it but I think it's great if it's different because who actually wants to watch a movie that is just like they imagined it to be?  I think it shows more talent to be able to adapt a screenplay from a book and to take it in a whole new direction.  I think this is the kind of film that almost anybody will be able to take something from.  It provides wisdom to all of us that are in that time in our lives where we are questioning what kind of life we want to live and how we want to live it.

So after 6 months of being vegetarian, 2 of which I was vegan, I decided to eat meat once again.  I realized that my reasons for not eating meat were not entirely valid.  Also, to be a conditioned athlete you need to have a lot of protein intake which I was not getting under my vegetarian diet.  Sure, I could have taken supplements of some sort but under a students budget, those kind of things can be more than I would like to spend.  I still believe that as a world, there is too much meat consumption.  Although I decided to eat meat once again, I will only eat it in moderation.  I did not crack under pressure of wanting to eat meat again.  I actually found it quite easy to be a vegetarian.  Being vegan is another story.  I think being vegetarian for a 6 month period will have trained me to not rely on meat as much as I did beforehand.

NHL playoffs start tomorrow and I couldn't be more pumped!  My predictions...Canadiens, Flyers, Red Wings, Avs, Penguins, Rangers, Sharks, Ducks.
